Rhye's and Fall of Civilization: Europe

From Rhye's Mods Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

RFC Europe (or Rhye's of Europe) is the working title for a modcomp (mod of a mod) being developed by members of the CivFanatics RFC board which adapts Rhye's and Fall of Civilization to a Medieval European setting. If successful it is envisaged to be the first of several modcomps.

This page will serve as a central repository for plans, utilities and finished work.

See Civs list for details.

Civics

We are re-organizing and re-doing many of the base Civics in the game. See details at Civics page

Corporations

These are:

  • The Medici Bank
  • The Ausburg Banking Families
  • The Bank of St. George
  • The Hanseatic League
  • Templars, Hospitallers
  • Teutonic Knights.

We also included The West India Company and the East India Company as Colonial projects which enable the building of colonies. See details at Corporations page.

Religions

The final religions are: Islam, Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox. Judaism is a special religion.

Resources

We will be adding some new resources and removing inappropriate ones. See details at Resources page.

Map spreadsheet

An excel spreadsheet of the current map is available here: http://wikirhye.wikidot.com/local--files/rhyes-of-europe/RFCe_Nov25_Blank.ods

This was created using a small python script to convert the WorldBuilder Save into a .CSV file which can be opened in a spreadsheet application such as OpenOffice Calc. The following Excel macro was then used to format the output until a readable map (this is included in the .xls above):

City name maps

We are currently working on developing maps for each civ specifying what their cities will be called if founded there. If you have a little time to spare researching Medieval European cities we would greatly appreciate your help on this. See this thread for details.

Some notes:

  • Cities should occupy a space approximately 2x2 squares. Any further resolution is unnecessary.
  • Cities should be named according to their native language.
  • Be as broad as possible: any areas historically controlled by the civ should be covered in the city name map.
  • Ensure the cities are appropriate for our time period and not industrial cities.

Settler Maps

These maps tell the AI where to settle and influence the stability of cities founded on these spots. They can be found on the pages for individual Civs in the table near the top of this page. Currently, initial maps are available for all civs.

Colonies and Colonial Projects

Colonies have been included because the map is only European and colonies played an important part in Europe. One of the 2 Colonial Projects is required for the building of each colony. Here is the current list that those already in the game.

Colonial Projects

  • West India Company
  • East India Company
  • Aztec Conquest
  • Inca Conquest

Colonies

  • Brazil
  • Cuba
  • Capetown
  • East Africa
  • East indies
  • Gold Coast
  • Hispaniola
  • Ivory Coast
  • Hudson Bay
  • Malaya
  • Virginia
  • Jamaica
  • Louisiana
  • New England
  • Panama
  • Phillipines
  • Quebec
  • Far Eastern Treaty Ports (3)
  • Indian Trading Posts (3)

Plagues

We currently have 5 plagues with these approximate starting dates:

  1. 540 Justinian's Plague
  2. 750 Plague of Constantinople
  3. 1341 Black Death
  4. 1650 Great Plague
  5. 1740 Small Pox

Crusades

We currently have 5 crusades events with approximate dates starting in 1098

Independents

These are the suggested independents:

Image:mapff3.jpg

  • Black:Barb
  • Grey: Germannics
  • Brown: Slavic
  • Pink: Mediterrean (since the eastern ones will flip quickly its really only the westerns that count).
  • Dark Green: Celtic

There is much debate going on about them, so there will be cities added/dropped out.

Strategy guide

I cant ssem to find a strategy guide for RFC Europe, so I decided to create one here and add what I could.

This section should be on a page by itself. But I dont know how, if anyone wants to go a head and do so.

Strategy guide for Bysantine by Wrathfull

BYZANTINE start: 500 AD Leaders: JUSTINIAN I Favoured Civic: BUREAUCRACY Favored Religion: ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY Unique Unit: CATAPHRACT (Early heavy cavalry) Unique Building: HIPPODROME (replaces Ampitheatre) Unique Power: POWER OF THE EMPEROR (see below)

Great People: Justinian (Great General) Heraclius (Great General) Basil II (Great General) Constantine (Great Engineer) Anthemius of Tralles (Great Engineer)

Unique Historical Victory: 1. Constantinople is the largest and most cultural city in 1000 AD 2. Control Constantinople, Greece and Anatolia in 1300AD 3. Be the richest civilization in Europe in 1500AD

"The Power of the Emperor": While in control of Constantinople, there could be no civil war and the cities in the core (Greece) cannot declare independence.

Briefly, this reflects the historical ebb-and-flow of Byzantium's fortunes; decline followed by resurgence under a strong dynasty and ensures that Byzantium will remain alive for an appropriate length of time.

Others civilisations rising in your land:

Arabs 630AD The Arabs apear in 630AD in the desert botom right of the map. Have a few high tier pikemen and an army not far away. You'll get the Arab.

In unstable times, even if you have you defeat them, your land below turkey may turn back to Arab control. Thus bringing back the Arab nation. They should crumble easily ennuf once you start retaking your cities.

Ottomans 1300AD To defeat the rise of the Ottomans in 1300AD, have a few galions full of units above Constantinople. The Ottomans will spawn a city below Constantinople and start attaking near cities, leaving their 1st city almost empty. An one turn move with galions and attack with troop that conquers their city will solve the Ottoman menace for you. No city = no Ottoman civilisation. All their troops will disapear. Be wary of the plague hitting your cities at the same time Ottomans apear.

Unique Historical Victory: 1. Constantinople is the largest and most cultural city in 1000 AD 2. Control Constantinople, Greece and Anatolia in 1300AD 3. Be the richest civilization in Europe in 1500AD

UHV1 can easily be attained. Make wonders and cultural buildings in Constantinople. Only Rome can be a menace. See the victory condition councilor for your place in the culture race. Farm and have the fish near Constantinople to make it the largest. Get a orthodox cathedral to 50% increase your culture.

UHV2 can be troublesome because of the barbaric uprise in easter turkey in about 1200. A few dozen horse barbs will apear. Be ready for them. Other wise, keep 2 defense troops in all your cities. But your main enemies will be arabs and ottomans untill 1300.

UHV3 is a still a mistery. I had 30K. 30K MAN! In 1500AD but I did not win UHV3. Genoa and papal state are your opponents. You can kill Genoa easily. Papal state cannot be attacked, so you could always cut its trade with corsairs as soon as you have them. I suggest killing Genoa right after Ottomans is deal with and cutting your reasearch to 0, you should get around 600 gold per turn from 1350 to 1500. Get Medicid house too, you ll be soo rich.

Stability:

Byzantine CAN be a huge empire. It has huge natural borders. Stability can be assured by ALWAYS making the buildings that give you a + to stability (castle, tribunal then night watch and donjeon).

See the civs for a few hints or add them here. See the Byzantian land: http://rhye.civfanatics.net/wiki/index.php?title=Rhye%27s_and_Fall_of_Civilization:_Europe_civilizations#Byzantine_Empire
