As with any community, RFC has produced a large number of memes. Here's an explanation for newcomers.

Ukraine

You may find several references to Ukraine or Poland within the [*http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=204 RFC] discussion community, especially from the more active or older members. Poland is actually a cultural phenomenon found throughout the Civ-discussing community in general. However, Ukraine created a direct challenge to Poland's hegemony as the most well-known 'denied addition' to the list of Civilizations. It was felt strongly in the RFC forums due to the efforts of one Cossack Captain.

The legendary Cossack Captain championed the Ukrainian cause [*http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=219279 here] and [*http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=219278 here]. Rhye, being the benevolent and democratic modder that he is, listened to Cossack Captain and [*http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=5422941&postcount=16 replaced] England with Ukraine, with [*http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=220819 a cue] from the community.

It continues to amuse the informed up to this very day.
